BoO!

What a BUSY past week this has been! We have had lots of Halloween things going on and it's been a total blast!

First we had trick-or-treating at church, along with lots of fun games for the little ones.

Then we had Wesley's Halloween party at school. It was so much fun! He has AMAZING teachers - Mrs. Tina, Mrs. Pam, and Mrs. Barbara. They made the day so festive with trick-or-treating, cookies, treat bags, games, and lots of great fun prizes. I enjoyed being able to attend and have Sophia with me.

His preschool is so awesome, it's a private Catholic School. It really is a wonderful, safe, and loving environment for Wesley! Sophia will definitely be going there when it's her turn!

After his party at school, we had a party here at our apartment complex. Wesley won first place in the costume contest, and I got 3rd place in the chili cook off.

Finally, tonight we had a Halloween party at our friends the Bowman's. There were lots of great people there, cute little ones, and great food. After visiting and eating, we took Wesley trick-or-treating (yes, he went THREE times this year!).

It was a great Halloween and we had so much fun with all the great activities going on the past couple of weeks.

Now for some pictures!

Look at her big blue eyes! (I know her hair looks blonde, but it's REALLY LIGHT brown. My hair was light as a child too, so I am thinking hers will darken when she gets older like mine did.)
So sweet!

Okay - this is a "crib tent" (google it to get tons of details). We got it to keep Wesley out of her crib now that she is sleeping in their room. (She is too long for the bassinet in our room now!)

You can barely see her through the mesh netting - but in person you can see her just fine, and she can see out as well. This crib tent has been a life saver! We had to keep her in our room until we found this thing, because Wesley wants to get in and cuddle her!

Here Wesley fell asleep with the Halloween card my Grandma Laura sent him. He loves it, and just had to take it to bed with him.

We hope everyone had a GREAT Halloween! We really enjoyed it, and are now so excited to have the holidays come up!

I absolutely love the new sewing machine Michael got me for my birthday.

Tonight I finally had a chance to try it out. Calling myself a beginner is being very kind... haha!

I made a simple pillow case for a sofa pillow - and it came out, well... it's very obvious that someone with NO sewing experience made it, BUT I made it none the less.

I am very excited to start getting cute fabrics of different colors, prints, etc., and to start making cute things for around the house.

My first "official" project is going to be a baby blanket for Sophia and then a blanket for Wesley. I am planning on starting a new tradition that each year I make them a new blanket for Christmas, so we will see how they turn out.

I hope to someday be a sewing wizz, making everything under the sun. Cross you fingers, I need lots of luck!

I had a great birthday - thanks so much to the people who remembered!

Brian and Amber (we are VERY lucky to be able to have these two people as our friends!) were so sweet and brought me homemade cookies! They were so yummy! I promised myself I would have self control and not eat them all - but I kinda caved! Oh well, they were totally worth it!

From Michael I got at awesome sewing machine. I don't know how to use it but I will try to find some place to take some classes. I have wanted a sewing machine for a long time, and I am so happy I got one! I am so excited to be able to make cute little outfits for Sophia and play clothes for Wesley. Not too mention stuff for the house and baby blankets, etc.

For dinner we headed down to Michael's parents and my mother in law made me a great dinner! It was fun to get to spend my birthday with Michael's family!

Now for some pictures...

Her doctor gave me the go ahead to start giving her solids - she was not liking her sweet peas!

We rented out a garage in our apartment complex, and it's in a GREAT location! It's tucked away in a corner with a little grass area, picnic table, etc. so it's like having our own backyard.

Our garage - it's great to store stuff now.

My amazing experience in LA!

This is a lot to read! (But hey, there are great pictures at the end!)

This past Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday I had the opportunity of a lifetime! I got to fly to LA to shoot a commercial/infomercial for Proactiv!

A lot of people know about my battle with acne, but at the same time, a lot of you don't know - so I will get everyone up to date.

Before Proactiv

After Proactiv!

I started to have problems with my skin as a teenager in high school, but it was after I became a mother that my here-and-there blemishes became full out cystic acne.

My skin was a mess to say the least.

I battled my acne for such a long time, and tried so many different things to rid myself of it. I can honestly say that I tried EVERY over the counter method you could possibly think of. I even tried "home remedies" as well.

Let me be a little more in depth as to what I tried:

Over the counter -

Nuetrogena
Loreal
Aveno
AcneFree (Which is NOTHING like Proactiv)
Oxy
Clinuiqe
Mary Kay
Clearasil
Clean & Clear

Prescriptions -

Several antibiotics
benzoyl peroxide
differin gel
and some other stuff that was in a tube and made my skin crack and bleed (I can't remember the name of it now)

Home remedies -

Put my face over a pot of boiling water to kill germs
Vinegar
Rubbing alcohol
Toothpaste (yep, I was told it would dry out the acne and clear it up)

I tried ALL of those methods, and NOTHING worked. That's right, out of all of those things listed above, nothing rid me of my acne. At times they would actually irritate my skin, and make it dry, crack, bleed, and turn bright red. It made it far worse at times.

Now let me tell you about how my skin cleared up...

I was finally at my wits end, and went to see a doctor about my skin (again). They diagnosed me with cystic acne, and told me it would probably take about a year to get my skin cleared up from my breakouts. I was put on pills and topical medications, but my skin was not responding.

One day I was sitting on the sofa with Wesley and he came to me and touched my face to try and pull me in for a kiss, and I freaked out on him to say the least. It hurt so bad when he touched my face that I yelled at him. He kind of stood there and looked at me in shock for a moment, and then began to cry. It was at that EXACT moment that I knew my acne was more than just a cosmetic problem.

My skin had reached a point that is was so bad I had to sleep with a separate pillow because my acne would burst and bleed during the night and ruin my nice pillow cases.

I finally had it with my acne, and after talking to my mom, I decided to try Proactiv (the BEST decision I EVER made!).

I will NEVER forget the day it arrived. It was during a vacation to Las Vegas for Christmas, and I was at my moms when there was a knock at the door - it was my Proactiv! Now normally I would wash my face in the morning and before bed, but I was so excited to get my Proactiv that I washed my face right away!

I can honestly tell you that within days I started seeing results. The horrible cystic acne I had was starting to vanish before my eyes. I noticed that my blemishes were starting to go down, and that the discoloration from them was starting to fade.

It was within a short couple of months that my acne was gone. Now, most of you know I do have scaring from my acne, but that's it.

Proactiv got rid of my acne, and that's that. I have to tell you that I absolutely LOVE Proactiv! I will use it for the rest of my life!

After seeing such amazing results I emailed Proactiv with my story, and to my surprise I got a phone call from someone in casting!

And to make a long story short, I was selected to be in their commercial/infomercial!

So a couple of days ago I was flown (all expenses paid) to LA to do the shoot!

First off, the hotel was AMAZING! We stayed at the Viceroy in Santa Monica right on the beach. The view from my hotel room was breathtaking.

The staff from Lieberman Productions took us to an amazing dinner at Tengu ( http://www.tengu.com/ ). The dinner was out of this world and I had so much fun hanging out with everyone!

The next day started VERY early. I was up at about 5am, and we headed to Malibu for the shoot at about 7:15am.

The shoot was at this HUGE house located in Malibu on a cliff. You could see the ocean and LA from there, and it was amazing. I could have stood outside and stared all day if they would have let me!

It was such a busy day, and it was so much fun! I felt like a celebrity.

The day started with a omelet bar! They had a cook there who was making made to order omelets right there on set. They also had fruit, drinks, muffins, nuts, vitamins, and anything else you could think of there for us.

After breakfast it was upstairs to hair and makeup. The hair and makeup people were not you're ordinary people - they have worked for some huge celebrities! The hair guy - Andre has worked on Vince Vaughn, Ashley Judd, and Gwen Stefani - just to name a few!

It was so much fun to get done up by such professionals.

After we were done with that we headed to wardrobe. The stylist - Sally was the absolute sweetest person ever. She was so great and made me feel so comfortable! Oh, and I have to tell you that the stylist was given my measurements and a picture of me, and went shopping for clothes - just for me as well as the other testimonials that were there! How awesome is that?

After I was done with hair, makeup, and wardrobe, it was off to film.

First I was filmed by Art (the most energetic and personable person I have ever met). He did some really fun things with me. Things from shooting me looking at the ocean, walking around the house, and talking about my story.

Then it was off for my main interview with Tamra. Now let me saying a little something about Tamra - she is who I call my "Proactiv Mama". She is the person I have been in touch with about this whole process. She is so loving and made me feel so comfortable on the set. She has made this whole process so special for me.

The interview with her went great! At first I started to feel as if I might pass out (as I noticed the camera on me, the lighting guys, sound guys, producers, directors, hair and makeup, etc... with there eyes on me... it was intimidating to say the least!)

After I calmed down the interview flowed perfectly, and I had so much fun doing it!

After that interview it was off to upstairs to do a second more casual interview in the master bedroom while sitting on a cute little sofa tucked away in a "den" of sorts.

My second interview was with Greg. Now Greg is awesome! I had so much fun talking with him and hanging out with him. He's a great guy and I am so glad I got to meet him. He's a producer, but he doesn't make you feel like a small and little person. He made me feel so important and so beautiful, and as most of you who know me, that's not an easy thing to do!

The interview with him was fun, as the way he was asking me questions was cracking me up. His personality is so much fun, and it definitely got some unique answers out of me.

After that interview they did some shots of me flipping through my photos of my little angels, then we were done!

It was such a long day, as there were others being filmed and interviewed. By the time I got back to the hotel, it was about 9pm. I was tired, but I couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear about my day.

To wind down I ordered some room service, slipped into my comfy jammies, and watched some TV!

Now I have to say something about the people who were there with me doing their testimonials.

There was Maria, Kevin, Mindy, Millie, and Amanda. I am so glad I got to meet them and go through this experience with them. I had so much fun hanging out with them, and I am sure we will all be friends for life after this amazing journey together.

Maria was all smiles all the time, Kevin was suave and such a joker, Millie was so calm and down to earth, Mindy was fun and a mom like me, so we could totally relate to each other (and her husband was there and he was a great guy!) and Amanda, she was the cutest of all! She's 20 and from Canada, and I just love her to pieces! All the guys on set were trying to flirt with her!

Oh, and I can't forget to mention Zack, Jasmine, Brianna, and there was one other person, but I can't think of her name!! (shame on me!) They were all so great to us while we were there. They made me feel like a million bucks, and I will always remember them!

I know I've written a ton, but it was just that amazing of an experience for me.

I wish I could be some sort of an actress and get to do this on a regular basis! It's the high life for sure!

Now for the pictures!!!! (They are VERY out of order... sorry!)
