Update on Sophia

Sophia's surgery was scheduled for this week, but she's had a cold and her asthma is acting up, SO we moved surgery to December. Her asthma is something we only have to deal with when she has a cold. Otherwise, it never acts up and she has no allergies that trigger it. I am SO grateful for that, as my asthma acts up when I am near cats (but I still love the furry little guys). So she lucked out :)

Of all the things to inherit from her mama... asthma, a love for spicy foods, and chocolate!

On another note - actually, kinda of the same...

My poor little Wesley has strep throat. He's such a trooper, smiling and trying to stay positive.

I am telling you, in our family, when one of us gets sick, we all get it. When it rains it POURS (germs, virus', and bacterial infections)!

Personal Thoughts..

So as I have said many times before, we don't just keep this blog as a way to keep family up to date on our adventures, we also use it as our family journal. We print it out and have it to look back on for the rest of our lives.

Well, this entry is more for me and my journal purposes than anything else.

Sophia has had a cold for over a week now and as it fades away she has been coughing from everything draining down her throat. It makes it a bit difficult for her to sleep at night.

Tonight I heard her coughing and I wanted so badly to give her some relief and what's better than a mothers loving embrace? Nothing.

Michael brought her to me and I let her lay on my chest and cuddle. It didn't help much, so I got up and turned off all of the lights in the house and just held her in my arms. I stood for about 30 minutes and rocked back and forth with her in my arms, in the dark. It was late and I was/am tired, but it didn't matter. It was so peaceful and still. Perfect.

She seemed to finally fall asleep.

Then I went into her room and did my favorite thing - I sat in the rocking chair and rocked her. As I rocked her I felt so much love in my heart for her.

The lyrics to one of my favorite songs came to my mind:

I could not ask for more then this time together
I could not ask for more then this time with you
Every prayer has been answered
Every dream has come true
Right here in this moment
Is right where I'm meant to be
Here with you, here with me

These are the moments
I thank God that I'm alive
These are the moments
I'll remember all my life
I've found all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more

As I rocked her I kept singing the words to this song in my mind while I held her as close as I could. I smelled her beautiful golden locks of hair, listened to her steady breathing in my ear, and watched her back rise and fall with each breath she took, and realized - I am blessed beyond measure.

My heart is so full of love right now, I wish I could live in this moment forever.

Sophia, my dear sweet daughter, I love you.

Happy birthday Wesley!

Happy Birthday Wesley

This last weekend, Wesley turned SIX! To say the past 6 years have gone by quickly is an understatement!

Here are some pictures from his special day (the pictures are not in order-sorry!). Oh, and some of the pictures aren't the best quality. The camera battery died so we had to use our phones for the rest.

Sophia enjoying birthday cake and ice cream. I love her so much. I have learned not to take a single day for granted with my children. This smile brings me so much joy.
Time to open presents!

Thumbs up!
We played a game of baseball in the back yard, it was a BEAUTIFUL day!
Long story behind this cake - he wanted a Mario cake, no one makes them, so I had Target make a cake with brick to make a castle, they messed up, and I tried my best to make it work. I think it came out horrible, but Wesley LOVED it! That's what matters.
In the morning with his birthday pancakes as we sing happy birthday to him!
These are the treats I made for his class. Wesley wanted Mario, and again, I can't find Mario stuff anywhere, so I printed off the the computer, taped to toothpicks, and there ya go!
Opening presents from Mommy and Daddy in the morning.
If Wesley gives you a thumbs up, that it a good thing!
Birthday Table
(I got this idea from my Mom Loesevitz. Michael told me she did this for him when he was a kid and it made him feel so special, so every year I do it for Michael, Wesley, AND Sophia. Michael even does it for me. We ALWAYS have the "birthday table" in our family. Thank you Mom for sharing a tradition that we are carrying on in our family!)

Happy Birthday to my amazing son. You are a blessing to this family that words cannot describe. Thank you for making me a mommy!

Behind a bit...

Goodness! I am behind in my blogging! I totally forgot to post about Michael's family visiting us AND Michael being sworn in as an attorney!

We had so much fun hanging out with Chris and Mom. We laughed, shopped, ate, and laughed some more! These two people bring so much joy and happiness to our family. We love it when the two of them visit, and can't wait to see them again.

Wesley and Sophia really love it when Oma and Chris visit! They cuddle and get tons of hugs and kisses!

We love you Mom and Chris!

Onto the pictures...
